Sanctuary House is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and recovery-focused Peer Support Team Lead to help guide our growing Peer Support Services program. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Certified Peer Support Specialist to mentor fellow peers, support high-quality services, and help individuals build meaningful, self-directed lives in their communities.

As the Team Lead, you'll serve as both a leader and a mentor, helping Peer Support Specialists provide recovery-oriented services that inspire hope, promote independence, and empower individuals to achieve their personal goals.

What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and support to a team of Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS).
  • Foster a recovery-oriented culture grounded in hope, self-determination, person-centered planning, and community inclusion. 
  • Provide administrative and supportive supervision to Peer Support staff, including regular individual supervision, coaching, and professional development. 
  • Plan work assignments, coordinate caseloads, and monitor staff performance based on the needs of the individuals served. 
  • Review service documentation to ensure quality, compliance, and adherence to Medicaid and agency standards. 
  • Collaborate with Certified Peer Support Specialists and the individuals they serve to support recovery-oriented, person-centered services. 
  • Monitor participant progress and the effectiveness of services, ensuring recovery goals remain the focus of service delivery. 
  • Facilitate team meetings, quality improvement activities, and ongoing staff development. 
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery-focused groups based on participant needs and interests. 
  • Ensure referrals and connections to community resources are completed to support participants in achieving their recovery goals. 
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for Peer Support Services within the organization and throughout the community. 
  • Promote a positive team environment that values lived experience, recovery, respect, and continuous learning.

What We're Looking For


  •  Qualified Professional (QP) as defined by North Carolina mental health service requirements (Bachelors degree with 2-4 years, depending on degree, post degree experience with ADULTS with serious mental illness)
  •  Knowledge of recovery-oriented principles, peer support philosophy, and the North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist role. 
  •  Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading behavioral health staff. 
  •  Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills. 
  •  Ability to foster a culture of hope, recovery, self-determination, and person-centered care. 
  •  Experience reviewing documentation, monitoring quality, and ensuring compliance with Medicaid and agency standards. 
  •  Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  •  Experience collaborating with community providers and coordinating services. 
  •  Ability to work independently while building a strong, collaborative team environment. 
  •  Valid North Carolina driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel throughout the community.
